Support — StickyDocs

Getting Started

  1. Launch StickyDocs. The app lives in the menu bar; click its icon to open the menu.
  2. Choose "Sign in to Google" and grant access when prompted. You'll see two scopes on the consent screen: Drive (per-file) and Docs.
  3. Choose "New Sticky" to create your first note. A small floating window appears — type into it as you would any text field.
  4. Your note is saved locally immediately and pushed to a Google Doc in a Stickies/ folder in your Drive shortly after you stop typing (or as soon as you click away or close the window).

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are my notes stored?

Locally on your Mac (in the app's sandbox container) and in your own Google Drive (one Doc per sticky, inside a folder named Stickies/). Baleware does not run any server and does not see your content.

Will the app see my other Drive files?

No. StickyDocs uses Google's drive.file scope, which only grants access to files the app itself creates. It cannot list, read, or modify anything else in your Drive.

I use two Macs — will my stickies sync between them?

Yes. Sign into the same Google account on the second Mac and StickyDocs will discover the Docs it created previously and import them. Imported stickies start closed so you don't get a screen full of floating windows; open the ones you want from the "All Stickies" list.

What happens if I edit the Doc directly in Google Docs?

On the next sync the app pulls the new revision and updates the sticky. If you also have unsynced local edits, the local version is preserved as a backup you can restore from the sticky's context menu.

The status dot on a sticky is red.

That means the last push to Google failed. Hover over the dot for the error message. The most common cause is being offline; the app will retry automatically once the connection is back. You can also choose "Sync Now" from the menu bar.

I deleted a sticky's Doc in Drive by accident.

The sticky will show an "unlinked" state and stop pushing automatically. Right-click the sticky and choose "Re-create Doc in Drive" to create a fresh Doc with the current contents.

How do I sign out or switch Google accounts?

Use the "Sign out" option in the menu bar. To fully revoke the app's access, visit myaccount.google.com/permissions.

How do I uninstall the app and remove all local data?

Choose "Reset All Local Data" from the Debug menu, then quit and delete the app. To also remove the synced content, move the Stickies/ folder in your Google Drive to the trash.
