Privacy Policy — MyStops HKI
Overview
MyStops HKI ("the app") is a transit widget for Helsinki Region Transport (HSL) stops. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the app accesses and how it is used.
Data We Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. The app has no backend, no analytics, and no user accounts.
Location Data
The app requests access to your device's location to:
- Sort nearby transit stops by distance
- Automatically display departures for the nearest favorite stop on the widget
Location data is processed entirely on your device. It is never sent to our servers or shared with third parties. You can use the app without granting location permission — stops will be sorted alphabetically instead.
If you grant "Always Allow" location access, the app uses battery-efficient significant location changes (approximately every 500 meters) to update the widget with your nearest stop.
Network Requests
The app connects to the Digitransit API (provided by HSL / Fintraffic) to fetch:
- Transit stop information (names, codes, coordinates)
- Real-time departure times
These requests contain only the stop ID being queried. No personal or device information is included in API requests.
Data Stored on Your Device
The app stores the following locally on your device using UserDefaults:
- Your favorite stop selections
- Cached stop data (to reduce API calls)
- App preferences
This data is not accessible to other apps and is deleted when you uninstall the app.
In-App Purchases
The app offers an optional in-app purchase to unlock unlimited favorite stops. Purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store any payment information.
Third-Party Services
The app uses only the following third-party service:
- Digitransit API (by HSL / Fintraffic) — for transit data. Their privacy policy is available at hsl.fi.
Children's Privacy
The app does not knowingly collect any data from children. The app contains no tracking, advertising, or social features.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, the revised version will be posted at this page with an updated date.
